Peaceful Hearts (Alexandria, LA)

Creating and Connecting the Child's Heart Worldwide

All children, faculty and staff at MEC are invited to walk the labyrinth on Friday, May 5, 2023, World Labyrinth Day in Educational Settings, creating and connecting peace-filled hearts with children worldwide.

Prior to walking, the children will participate in activities to prepare for a calm, peaceful, heart-focused walk, connecting with the energy of the hearts of children around the world who are participating in walks in their own country. They will learn tools to increase personal heart coherence, that which occurs when our body's systems, our breathing, heart rhythms, brain rhythms and hormonal response, are in sync with each other. The science on which this type of walk is based is conducted by the HeartMath Institute’s Global Coherence Initiative.

Some of the students will learn how to draw a labyrinth from the seed pattern. Younger students will enjoy a reading circle about peace within and how to feel connected with others around the world in peace.

The students will be divided according to age into 3-5 groups; after an introduction to the labyrinth, heart coherence and global connection, they will walk the labyrinth with their hearts focused on peace worldwide.

Location: Montessori Educational Center, Alexandria, LA
